Job Creation and Retention.

This is my primary concern. WV needs to encourage existing businesses to keep creating jobs in WV and new business to expand their operation to WV.  

The business climate in West Virginia needs to be conducive to accomplishing these objectives. West Virginia has a lot of wonderful existing businesses bringing money into our state and allowing our residents to earn a decent wage. That money is then re-utilized in our local economies as our employees are able to support their families.  

There are also a lot of people with insightful ideas for new businesses. Additionally, we are blessed with several resources to assist new and existing companies. We need to effectively link together business and
the resources to help make them successful.  


Education

Education is a large concern of mine.  With 3 school-aged children, their education is a primary concern of mine.

West Virginia ranks among the lowest of all states in education statistics. It is difficult to understand in Wheeling where we have top rated Public, Parochial, and Private education options at all levels. I am 100% committed to working to bring West Virginia to a higher standard. I want to work with our schools, Colleges, and Universities, to help them accomplish these goals.


Our Large Veteran and Retired Population

These people have done their time, whether serving their country or working, the promises made to them must be upheld.  

My father is a Veteran. I believe West Virginia has always done its part to support our Veterans and always should in the future. I will continue to support all programs designed to better the lives of Military Personnel, Veterans, and their families.  My experience on Pension Fund Boards has prepared me to work for the best interest of our retirees.


Budgetary

Unfunded budgets, expenses, etc.  similar to the problems WV saw with Workers’ Compensation need to be addressed.  

I have great concerns about West Virginia's Unemployment Compensation fund. Great strides are being made to keep this funded, but the negative impact of our recent economic downturn, will slow the turnaround period.  A continued focus is necessary.
